When styled right, leather can be be classy, trendy and add structure to any outfit. And the right kind of leather pieces never go out of style!
They always find their way into my wardrobe during this time of year as we head into fall/winter. So, today I’m excited to share how you can get the most out of this leather skirt by wearing it to work – styled two ways!
First things first. If you find that leather feels intimidating to wear in an office/professional setting, think of it as the statement piece in your outfit and build basics in around it.
Look One: Add a Blouse | Black Leather Skirt | Blue & White Striped Blouse | Patent Leather Pumps |
Pairing leather with a blouse like the above immediately dresses up the look. You can never go wrong with a classic stripe pattern. Am I right?! I love this LOFT Striped Utility Blouse because of it’s “no collar” collar and defined cuffs – these details make it different than your traditional button down.
Generally, when I choose a leather piece I like to stick with minimal/simple accessories. This skirt definitely makes a statement but in a refined way. Let it speak for itself! I added these Steve Madden patent leather heels and a pair of short tassel earrings to keep it classic and simple.
Look Two: Layer with a Sweater | Black Leather Skirt | Blue & White Striped Blouse | Hoodie Sweater | Patent Leather Pumps |
I absolutely love this camel colored LOFT Hoodie Sweater + leather skirt pairing – it has fall written all over it!
Layering with this sweater makes the look lean more towards the casual side but the striped blouse peeking through still keeps it refined. If your office is anything like mine, layers keep the freezing temps at bay. This can be a great sweater/blouse combo to throw on. And hello comfortable!
Quick tip: You can tie the sweater strings into a small bow at the top of your neck or tuck all the way in if preferred.
All in all, if your pair your leather (skirt or other) with classic pieces, you’ll be ready to rock it at the office. Don’t blame me if someone mistakes you for the boss 😉
Isn’t it amazing how having a killer outfit can make you get more things checked off your list!? That’s what I’m after this week! Check, check and check!
