Welcome to the blog! Today we’re talking all things beauty + organization!
Grab yourself some coffee, iced tea.. wine (whatever time it is) and let’s get into it!
We travel back and fourth to Chicago quite often, which means frequent weekend getaway packing. And even though I am an over-packer, I still try my best to pack efficiently and stay organized – which all starts with what bags you’re using.
On my recent hunt to find the perfect travel beauty organizer, I discovered this Ellis James Designs Tall Cosmetic Bag and it has been a life saver! I wanted to find something that would not only travel well but that’s easy to clean and has several compartments for multiple size products.
Previously I packed two separate bags; one for makeup and one for hair and skincare. Thankfully this has enough room to keep all of my beauty items in one place, which makes it much easier to get ready on the go.
Packing Tip: Rather than bringing all of my full size items, I try to stock up on travel sizes and keep them in my bag. That way, the next time I go to pack I have the majority of my items already and don’t have to worry about running to the store last minute before a trip. (We all know how that goes.)
I decided to test this bag out on my most recent trip and wanted to share what’s inside my travel beauty bag!
Makeup
As mentioned, I’m a little bit of an over-packer. But for me, it’s really all about having options! If we’re going home for a family party or event I like to pack my Double Wear foundation + Shape Tape because its fool proof for the whole day/night. For lighter makeup days I’ll throw on my favorite BB Cream and a lighter concealer. It’s great to be prepared right?!
Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation
Dr Jart Dis-A-Pore BB Cream – Medium
Estée Lauder Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter – I use this in place of Shape Tape on lighter makeup days. Always great to add to the cheek bones for a quick glow.
Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Last Multiplying Volume Mascara
Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit – Light/Medium – the bronzer/contour in this palette also doubles as a perfect eye shadow to pop in the crease if I don’t feel like doing a full eye look.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brown Definer
Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette – this is such a great travel palette! The size is compact and you can create both bold and neutral looks.
Tarte Artful Brush Set – this was a limited edition brush set but you can shop other Tarte brush sets here.
This Ellis James Tall Cosmetic Bag has the perfect amount of room on the top to hold all of my makeup and keep it organized. Slots for brushes, mesh to hold my palettes, and enough room to keep everything in one compartment.
Skincare
Again, I like to be prepared when I’m away from home! I do not use every single one of these products in my travel bag each day/every time. My skin leans towards the sensitive side so having different products helps keep my skin on track.
Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser – my bff! Can’t go anywhere without this.
Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Moisturizer – when my skin is stressed from traveling or feeling on the dry side. Moisturizes without being too heavy or oily.
Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash
Mario Badescu Facial Spray – for longer traveling, I keep this in my purse to freshen up after a flight.
Mario Badescu Super Collagen Mask – masking is one of my favorite items to bring for a trip or weekend getaway. My skin is sensitive so when it’s out of its normal routine, sometimes it freaks out. I’ve noticed this masks help plump and give life back!
Tarte Maracujá C-Brightener Eye Treatment
Tarte Drink of H20 Hydrating Boost Moisturizer – this my friends, is one of my favorite hydrating moisturizers. I always thought of Tarte as a makeup brand but I’ve seen a huge difference in the hydration of my skin by using this.
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
Hair Products
I’ve used Aveda for years and they offer so many of their products in travel sizes.
Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Hair Spray
Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Clay Conditioner
Aveda Pure Abundance Style Prep
Aveda Shampure Thermal Dry Conditioner – this product is amazing for a quick refresh between washes. I apply to the bottom half of my hair and fluff with a brush.
Tangle Teezer Detangling Hair Brush – this is such a great brush and the size is perfect for travel!
+ I always make sure to pack a headband for washing my face, extra hair ties, bobby pins, hair clips, etc.
If you’re in the market for a travel bag, this quilted beauty is your gal! And lucky for you, you can head over to my Instagram @everydayraleightay for a little surprise!
